Bye-bye bloatware? Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge might let you purge unwanted apps

The fact that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will come with certain apps pre-installed should come as little surprise, considering that most phone manufacturers often include such software. But this time, Samsung might let you remove them.

Many smartphone manufacturers include pre-installed apps to promote their own services, or to get licensing money from third party apps that they include.

Although some of the pre-installed apps can be useful, many people find them annoying and a waste of space, especially since they cannot easily be removed - hence the nickname 'bloatware'.

Take the power back

The ability to remove these apps for a cleaner Android experience is a welcome move by Samsung, and comes after a new South Korean law was introduced ruling that all apps should be removable by users.

We're not sure if this means that only South Korean Galaxy S6 and S6 units will be affected, but we hope it's a benefit that's extended around the globe, giving us all a bit more control over the smartphones we've paid for.
